Points and straight lines

Before you start...
  • You need to understand what is meant by the gradient of a line
  • You need to know how to find the distance between two points using Pythagoras’ theorem.
  • You need to have covered the work on simultaneous equations in chapter 2.
When you have finished you should...
  • Be able to find the equation of a straight line.
  • Know the conditions for two straight lines to be parallel or perpendicular to each other.
  • Be able to solve coordinate geometry problems involving straight lines, including finding intersection points of straight lines and distances between points.
